EFFECTIVENESS OF MOODLE AS LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON ACHIEVEMENT OF IX GRADE STUDENTS

Abstract

 

Due to advancement in technology, Education field has changed at great extent. Technological advancement has converted traditional teaching -learning process into virtual world. E-learning is getting popularity day by day as it is cost effective in term of money and time. Moreover, Physical appearance of learner is not compulsory. Everything is available online; students can access learning material at anytime and anywhere. In Education field, Different learning managements are used. But in the study, the main purpose is to see the effect of Moodle on academic achievement of IX grade students. In order to conduct this experiment, 4 schools of Amritsar district were selected randomly. From these four schools, 460 students of grade IX of PSEB and CBSE schools were taken as sample to conduct this study. Raven Progressive matrices test of intelligence and Achievement test (prepared by investigator) were administered on selected sample. Descriptive statistics (Means, S.D’s,) and Inferential Statistics (2 X 2 ANOVA) were calculated to understand the nature of data and test the hypotheses respectively. This study indicated that treatment significantly affects the achievement of IX Grade students. It means that teaching with Moodle learning management system significantly improve the performance of IX grade students. Moreover, the achievement of IX grade students is affected by type of school. Significant interaction effect between treatment and gender on the achievement of IX grade students are also found in this study. At the last, the investigator found that significant interaction effect between treatment and type of school exist on the achievement of IX grade students.
