RELEVANCE OF INDIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM IN VALUE EDUCATION

Abstract

It goes without saying that a national anthem is generally hailed as a composition full of music imbued with the spirit of patriotism. No doubt, it inculcates accolade of the traditions and historical perspectives of a country. Most of the national anthems are written in the style of hymns.  In Central Asia, Latin America as well as in some European nations, the national anthems have been composed in more embellished style. But, in some countries of Oceania, Africa and Caribbean have composed their national anthems in simple style.

Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941) was a versatile genius: a poet, artist, musician, dramatist, thinker, Nobel Prize winner for literature in 1913, and an extraordinary educator. Tagore was actually a prolific composer with around 2,500 songs to his credit. The songs have distinctive traits in the music of Bengal, fashionable in India and Bangladesh. He composed the nationwide anthems of India and Bangladesh.  Lyrics and music both hold virtually equal importance in Rabindrasangeet. Rabindranath introduced the training system far away from narrow confines to the open space. He understood with his life model that schooling could be for constructing values and which conjures up air of nationalism. He felt that his education would be unprofitable if the coed did not develop human quality.  The atmosphere of unrest that has been created at this time, state and nation these days in everybody knows.
