ASSOCIATION BETWEEN PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP AND SELFCONFIDENCE IN CLASS VIIISTUDENTS OF ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOLS
Abstract
The aim of the present study was to assess the relationship between parent-child relationship and self confidence in class VIII students from English medium schools. The sample compromise of 200 middle school students from class VIII with medium of instruction being English. To assess parent-child relationship, PCRS-RN scale constructed by Nalini Rao was used while self-confidence of middle school students was assessed by inventory prepared by Pandey. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to assess the association between parent-child relationship and self-confidence. Results reveals that parent-child relationship was positively and significantly related to self-confidence in class VIII students from English medium school. It was concluded that a increase in parent-child relationship also leads to increased self-confidence in class VIII students of English medium schools.
