Abstract

This study explores the integration of biometric monitoring in workplaces has gained traction as organizations seek to enhance productivity, security, and efficiency. However, the psychological impact of such surveillance on employees remains a critical concern, particularly concerning work-life balance. This study explores the effects of biometric monitoring such as fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, and physiological tracking on employees' stress levels, privacy concerns, job satisfaction, and overall well-being. Through a mixed-methods approach involving surveys and interviews with employees across various industries, the research investigates how continuous biometric monitoring influences work- related anxiety, perceived autonomy, and work-life boundaries. Findings suggest that while biometric systems can improve workplace efficiency, they may also contribute to heightened stress, diminished trust, and an erosion of personal boundaries, potentially disrupting employees' ability to maintain a healthy work-life balance. The study highlights the need for ethical and transparent implementation of biometric technologies, advocating for policies that balance organizational interests with employees psychological well-being. These insights can guide policymakers and organizations in creating a more employee-centric approach to biometric monitoring, ensuring that technological advancements do not compromise mental health and work-life harmony.
