Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of utilizing animated cartoons to teach General Foundation Program learners at private universities. With the rise of innovative teaching strategies, the use of animations provides an engaging method to enhance students' comprehension skills. The experimental study implemented a pre-post design to compare traditional teaching methods with animated cartoons in grammar and vocabulary instruction. A group of 35 learners was randomly and purposively selected from various private Omani universities and General Foundation Programs. Focus group interviews were conducted to gather additional information. The pre-test employed traditional teaching techniques, while the post-test involved animated cartoons over the course of one month. The results showed that participants scored significantly higher in the post-test compared to the pre-test, demonstrating the effectiveness of animated cartoons in teaching. This approach not only boosted learner motivation ,but also decreased anxiety and confusion, leading to greater confidence and improved performance among students.
